Blackberry OS 4.5 Review

The official U.S. release of OS 4.5 will not be until September, we decided that we couldn’t wait.  So we did some Google searching and got our own to test out.  Even though OS 4.6 isn’t too far away I have to say that we love OS 4.5.  The biggest difference that we at Berry Reporter have noticed is the operating speed.  Even when you have multiple applications running; it is still light speeds faster than v4.2 in my opinion.  Another little nifty feature is memory cleaning, which can be set to clear your memory from as short a time as every minute to every hour.  This ensures that your Blackberry runs fast all the time.  The new OS also has a slightly different appearance; still the same icons but different fonts and screen layouts.

Some other notable updates and features with the new OS are YouTube streaming support (all 8800 series, Curve, and Pearl 8100), video camera (only with Curve models), and Bluetooth stereo adaptation (Pearl 8100, 8800).  The streaming support update allows Blackberry users to view YouTube and Sling Player videos.  The Bluetooth stereo adaptation allows 8100 Pearl users play their phone media library over Bluetooth capable mp3 stereos, another convenient feature if you want to hear your favorite song at a friend’s house or a party.
Our recommendation is that if you don’t already have OS 4.5, get it so you can have a faster OS before 4.6 comes out
