storm pricing1 Verizon Storm Pricing Hidden in Contest

BGR came across something very interesting in the Verizon BlackBerry Storm Contest rules.  Apparently the pricing was hinted in the part where it explains the prizes and the values puts the Storm’s value at $499.

Prizes: Daily Grand Prizes (50): A BlackBerry® Storm™ 9500 Smartphone and a $50 Verizon Wireless gift card Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”):  $549 each.

This price seems about what I expected from the Storm with a contract.  We don’t know exactly what price Verizon will be offering up the Storm, but I’m sure that the no contract price will not be $499 due to the fact that the no contract price of the Bold on AT&T is $549, but hey, I would love to be proved wrong.

One more observation about this odd excerpt from the Storm Hunt rules; now I don’t know if anyone else noticed this besides me, but it seems they are giving away a GSM Storm for their CDMA customers lol.  I’m sure they are either just speaking of the 9500 series in general or it is a typo and they meant 9530, but either way it is interesting.  Maybe Vodafone is in on it too, who knows.

More likely they did a cut and paste job off the Vodaphone giveaway and forgot to change model number.

So, really, you think $499 is going to be the ON contract price? If that happens, major fail on VZW part. If its not $199 ON contract with rebates, who would buy? They will guarantee iP3G dominates US smartphone market at that sort of price.
