8350idelayed Sprint/Nextel BlackBerry Curve 8350i Release Update

I got a tip that the Curve 8350i release was delayed yet again!  So, I had to find out what was going on.  I spoke to Sprint and as usual they wouldn’t give me an answer, but I am persistant and I kept at them.  Unfortunately the rumor is true, the new release date they are shooting for with the 8350i is December 15th.  Sorry for all you Sprint/Nextel customers who have been waiting years for a new iDEN BlackBerry.

Here is the email I received:

Dear Thomas Magsaysay,

Thank you for your reply.

The estimated launch date of the Sprint Blackberry Curve 8350I is
December 15, 2008.

Thank you for contacting us, and we look forward to assist you.

Sincerely,

I just received word that the new BlackBerry Curve 8350i would not be
released until December 15th.  Previously, you guys informed me that
Dec. 1st would be the official online release date for the device,
with a in store release coming before Christmas.  I was just wondering
which date was the real date?

Thank You

Its out in Orlando.. I've had it for almost a month now.. I would wait tho, at least for nextel to put an update on the phone. The texting is super delayed and very aggrivating. I get my texts immediately, ONLY when I turn my phone on and off again. Other than that, I get them hours even days later.. I'm very frustrated with it and may be getting rid of it very soon!

So here it is, January 13th. No phone yet here in Columbus. What is the story elsewhere?
  • Thanks for the release date info. Unbelievable how hard it is to find that out!
  • Business is business I agree, but Sprint has no room to play games with customers, as we would all agree. Sprint teasing = Customers leaving.
  • Jerry - IT
They are dangling the carrot on a stick in front of everybody to maximize anticipation. It's called in the business world "Teaser"
    Business is business.
    Merry Christmas!
  • WTF?
Dan Hesse is a douchenozzle...now I know why Sprint is hemmoraging staff and customers.
Buying Nextel was "smart" buisness sense BUT a disaster on logistics.
The debacle that is 8350i release will go down as their BIGGEST screw up YET...even worse than the Instinct crap!!!
  • Robert S.
    Dan Hesse = worst CEO
  • I feel your pain guys. It seems like no carriers can hit a release date anymore. I bet it's that "CEO" Dan Hesse...
  • WTF?
this is some total bullshit... I'm about 5 minutes away from telling Sprint to piss off!
They've pushed this release back too damn many times, RIM already released the handset to them in friggin October...in time for the original 10-19 release date they were trying for. Sprint didn't estimate demand right and the phone got pushed til November...still underestimated demand...push til 12-1 now pushed to 12-15 ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS WTF???
GET ON WITH THE DAMN RELEASE IT ALREADY!!!!!
  • I'm sorry to see you leave rob, Sprint has so many issues right now, it sucks that you guys have to wait so long for new iDEN devices. Since you are going to an iPhone however, you will be back ;).
  • rob
i guess i will have to get a i phone now, i have waited long enough,,, it sucks you can not depend on them
  • I don't know. That would be very odd to release a phone and have none physically available for 2 weeks. I'll see what I can find out
  • Tritan
I wonder if this was the case. I have heard a dec 1st date for launch but shipping won't be till Dec 15th. I wonder if that is true.
