How To: Get the BlackBerry Logo for BlackBerry Messenger

Here is a how to that I know many of you have been looking for forever.  Some time ago there was some hype that spread through the BlackBerry world about how to get that cute little BlackBerry logo (which is actually the 3G icon) into the BlackBerry Messenger name.  Nobody knew how to actually get that icon.  It has been spread by way of copy paste from messenger to messenger.  Our good buddy, developer, Fabian Heuwieser figured it out and gave me the instructions to pass down to you!!!  Continue on below to find out!

First off, go thank Fabian for this awesome tip by buying some of his essential applications such as, VibAndRing and Launch Pads;  Fabian Heuwieser Applications

What you need:
-  A BlackBerry Device that supports 3G (sorry Verizon users this will not work for you because you don’t have the 3G icon)
-  You must be in 3G Coverage

How to do it:

1.  Make sure you have your 3G enabled and you are in an area where you have 3G Coverage.  You can check if you have 3G Coverage if the [BlackBerryIcon] 3G is written at the top right of the home screen where your service bars are. (Don’t mind the images that show EDGE, you need it to show 3G)

2.  Go to the Application Manage Connections that you find in the home screen application list.

3.  Select Services Status in the list.

4.  In the Mobile Network Section nearly at the bottom of the screen you find [BlackBerryIcon]3G written, scroll down to that line so that it is selected.

5.  Now press the Menu Button.
6.  Click the Copy Menu.
7.  Now you have the [BlackBerryIcon]3G saved in the Clipboard.
8.  If you now go to any field in the OS and press the Paste-Menu you have the [BlackBerryIcon]3G on the screen.

9.  To paste this in your BlackBerry Messenger name:

• After the logo icon is copied, go into your messenger
• Click your menu button, and select Edit My Info
• Now either hold the # key (if you have a SureType keyboard) or your Shift key and click your trackball.
• PRESTO!  You have the BlackBerry logo in your Messenger name.
