RIM Sues Motorola

Apparently RIM filed a law suit against Motorola alleging that Motorola has improperly blocked RIM from hiring current and former employees. The suit was filed Tuesday December 24th 2008, which is a few months after Motorola claimed that RIM breached their agreement to no solicit employees from either companies. RIM is fighting this because they said that their agreement ended in August of 2008. Here is an excerpt from the suit:
“RIM entities continue to grow and hire new employees within the United States and globally against a backdrop of recent public announcements by Motorola that it has and will continue to make massive layoffs,” said RIM’s lawsuit.
I think that it is legitimate for RIM to seek Motorola employees especially since their alleged agreement ended in August. Furthermore, I think it would behoove the courts to side with RIM for economic’s sake (even though that cannot be considered for a decision) because with all the layoffs from Motorola and the hiring that RIM will be doing this year, we cannot afford anymore unemployment. This is strictly opinion by my part however.
