*Thomas Update: I was in the middle of posting this news when Steve beat me to it haha.  You’re getting fast in your old age.  As we reported last week, the rumored date for release was Feb. 18th.  This confirmed official date is a little more to our liking :) .   Just wanted to put my words in, that is all for now.  Thanks for the tip BES*.

The Official Release of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 is February 11, 2009 on T-Mobile– a full week ahead of what we reported before. Thanks to a tipster who sent this in, I believe we are one of the first to report on this.

    the good news is it's gonna be released by t-mobile...whic means you are not obliged to get a very expensive plan just to get this phone (unlike other providers) wherein you have no choice but to get additional plans you really don't need that much!

    t-mobile handed me an 8900 today and said: Here you go. They want me to deploy them in for my company. I had no idea that they weren't even out yet. We currently have a mixture of 8300's, world phones, and storms. The new curve is lighter, shorter, and the UI seems more responsive than the storm. Thankfully it has the same icon styles as the storm since the previous gen blackberry icons looked silly. The screen resolution is very high for the size of screen.
    UMA is really cool and seems to work well except at the office. I suppose it has something to do with our firewall and so we'll have to see if we can get some exceptions.
