Verizon/Alltel Deal Will Close on Jan. 9th

The Verizon/Alltel merger will finally be finished come Jan. 9th. This will clench the win for Verizon being the America’s largest wireless carrier over AT&T. The deal called for Verizon to pay $5.9 billion for Alltel’s private equity and taking on $22.2 billion in debt. Verizon Wireless has received commitments from 8 financial institutions to provide $17 billion. This merger will bring Verizon’s market share to a total of around 85.2 million customers.
