*Note: This case only fits the BlackBerry Curve 8350i.

Okay, this case is going to be widely used, I know that for sure.  All you Sprint/Nextel pust to talk people, this is for you.  For everyone that has a new BlackBerry Curve 8350i, this is for you.  I know that many of you 8350i users are constantly on your phones and constantly putting your device is imminent danger.  Well, the solution you have been waiting for is here.  Since Nextel doesn’t have any pretty devices that are durable, you opted to get a BlackBerry (great choice).  With the new OtterBox Defender case for the 8350i, you can now add protection and durability to your device.  These cases enable you to have full functionality of your device as well as protecting it in full.  Check out our other OtterBox reviews and see if its the right case for you.

In reference to what Radar_One stated, I think most cell phones produced today are cheap junk. I purchased a Motorola i560, and that lasted less than 12 months. I decided to then purchase a Palm Treo 700wx. Great features but junk. I went through 5 before giving up and purchasing a Motorola i580. You always think of Motorola Nextel phones as rugged. NOT! I baby my phones since they are quite expensive. My first i580 went out within 26 days. Sprint tried to replace it with a refurbished phone which lasted less than 2 weeks. They replaced that one with a new one which lasted about 2 months. I was on i580 number 6 on just over 12 months when I decided to get the Blackberry 8350i. Before I had even walked out of the door with my two brand new 8350i phones the Sprint rep had to replace mine because the Direct Connect radio would not work. I've had a few other issues with mine but it seems to be doing okay at this time. My wife's 8350i was a different story. After 7 or 8 trips back to the Sprint store she was fed up and wanted something else. She decided on the Sprint Blackberry Curve 8530. She is currently on her second 8530. We purchased these phones on January 6, 2010. Since that time we have both gone through a combined 6 phones because of one problem or another. I've had 2 and she has gone through 4 Blackberry phones since that time. I'm thinking about giving the OtterBox Defender a try.

Hey guys, just turn the volume down bout 3 quarters to a half while on call, or use speaker phone. I know it sucks to half to do this, but what r we to do. Nextel sucks, and we only use them because of our jobs, or we have no other choice for direct connect (what else is new).
  • No problem Dave, feel free to email me anytime about any issues or questions you have.

Thanks for the info Thomas. I have tried a couple of other cases with my 8350i, they didn't offer all the protection as the Otterbox Defender, but still had the echo. I am relieved to hear my money won't be wasted once the problem is resloved, and I can still use this more durible case.
  • I feel your pain Chris. The 8350i was launched with many bugs. The OS that came on it is terrible and the echo is a product of that. I would suggest holding off until March because Sprint did say that if purchased after Feb. 8th that the echo should be fixed. I would wait til March just to be sure. I'm sorry to hear about the issues, I have been hearing them since release.

My callers hear an echo on their end when we talk on my Blackberry 8350i in the Otterbox case.
I don't hear it, but it is very annoying to them. If I remove the phone from the case, the
echo goes away. Any comments or ideas? I do use the keypad protector and have not
tried using the case without it.

I'm lovin my 8350... BUT the i580 was a cool looking durable phone, I had it for over 2 years and never had any issues with it.
I dunno if I wanna spend 50 bucks yet on an Otterbox...I mean I know it will keep my berry safer, but right now I'm not doing anything that would put it in jeopardy...
