Month to Month T-Mobile @Home Coming Soon

This is just going to be a little blirp. Joey over at BBN posted something about T-Mobile’s @Home service starting to be month to month now. I have check up a little on this and it is not available yet, but will be soon. If you are not familiar with T-Mobile @Home, what it is, is a wireless router called a HiPort wireless router or adapter (if you have a wireless router) from T-Mobile. You pay $9.99 a month and you can use your current home phone number. As of right now, if you sign up for T-Mobile @Home, you have to sign up fo a 2 year contract. As the above says, it will be month to month soon, so wait. The HiPort router uses the connection from your broadband internet to connect to what is called UMA. Yes, you have to have your own broadband internet before this service will work. There are some more details, but that is the gist of it. It is kinda cool, but there are issues I have with it, plus if your internet goes down, so does your phone.
PS if you don’t already know, T-Mobile customers with WiFi enabled devices can connect to UMA where it is available and get really good reception.
