8350i fix21 Sprint Issued an 8350i Echo Bug Fix Timeline

The Sprint/Nextel 8350i has been bug riddenn since it’s release.  Some have been addressed and fixed while some have not yet been fixed.  A major annoyance that has plagued the device is the echo issue.  Now I have been told that you can “fix” this by turning down the default volume on the phone, but really, that is not a solution.  Sprint is coming with another OS update soon and here is what they had to say about it:

A voice echo issue with the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8350i has been reported on a limited subset of devices. The root cause of the voice echo issue has been identified and is being addressed in a software release MR2 that should be available in March.

Devices purchased before Feb. 8 will need to upgrade to software load MR2 when it becomes available to address the echo issue. Devices sold after Feb. 8 should not experience the echo issue.

We recommend customers update from launch software to the MR1 (4.6.1.128 (225)) software load now, then update to the MR2 software when available. Meanwhile if a customer is experiencing the voice echo issue we suggest using the wired headset that comes in the box or using the speakerphone until the new software is available.

Software updates can be found at www.sprint.com/downloads.

At least people who purchase the 8350i don’t have to wait until March to fix the issue, but for the rest of you…sorry, but you’ll have to wait.

I also found this on BlackBerryHomepage.com, this guy has instructions on how to fix it manually.  Beware, this could mess your phone up if you do not do it right.  Try it at your own risk!
