speedtest11 Speedtest to Test Your BlackBerrys Download and Upload Speed

Xtreme Labs Inc. has developed a Speed test for your BlackBerry.  These aren’t new, but this one is the best working one I have used so far.  It is a simple app that has one button that tests both upload and download speed.  First it does the download speed, then when it is finished it does the upload.  As of where I am sitting right now here are what my speeds are:

BlackBerry Bold on T-Mobile EDGE and 2 bars of service

Download Speed: 50.16 Kbits/s
Max Speed: 55.38 Kbits/s
Upload Speed: 20.67 Kbits/s
Max Speed: 33.68 Kbits/s

Go get Speedtest here for the OTA download

Xtreme Labs Inc.

Now test your speed and post it in the comments and I’ll send you a retro BerryReporter.com logo Shirt or some other goodies. (everyone should be able to beat my speed.  I was getting turtle slow service, like dead turtle slow. haha)

Wishing I had a 3G phone (tried out an Android - 3G was smokin' fast, nicest phone hardware I've ever used, but the software needed work - went for the Curve instead.)

On the Rogers Edge network, with a cell tower immediately behind my employer's parking lot:

    Download Speed: 46.62 Kbits/s
    Max Speed: 61.33 Kbits/s
    Upload Speed: 22.96 Kbits/s
    Max Speed: 52.3 Kbits/s

    On my Wi-Fi connection:

    Upload Speed: 688.79 Kbits/s

  • Indeed you do. It is still sad that EDGE shows up so slow. It doesn't seem all that slow when you are browsing.
  • I'm in Houston on a Tmobile Blackberry 8900. Service is EDGE with 4 bars. My speeds were:

    Download Speed: 61.56 Kbits/s
    Max Speed: 88.13 Kbits/s
    Upload Speed: 11.7 Kbits/s
    Max Speed: 12.33 Kbits/s

Guess I have you beat on turtle slow on the upload part. :-)
