So, the tip of the day posts will be during the business week only (Mon-Fri).

Level: Beginner

Tip of the Day #2 – How to copy/cut and paste -As a beginner, you will grow to love this function and die if you did not have it [cough cough iPhone].  Using the shortcut version will easily double your productivity.  I really could not do without it.

trackball BlackBerries – You have two options for copying and pasting with your BlackBerry; 1. through the menu key, or 2. with trackball shortcuts.  To highlight text you would like to copy  hold down your Shift key and scroll the trackball over the text you wish to copy/cut.  Now, for the menu option press the Menu key and scroll to copy or cut and then simply go to the place that you would like to paste it, push Menu again, go to paste and you are done.

Now for the shortcut.  This is faster easier and is the only way you can paste within your BlackBerry Messenger name edit option.  Highlighting is the same as before, hold Shift and scroll over selected text.  Now to copy the selected text, hold down the alt key and press the trackball; now the text is copied to your clipboard.  To cut the text hold Shift and press Delete (thanks Blake).  To paste, simply hold Shift and press the trackball once more.

For the Storm – Storm owners don’t have it so easy in the copy/paste department, there is a learning curve for this so be patient.  The highlighting is the tricky part.  What you do is place a thumb at the beginning and at the end of the text you would like to copy (if you do it one finger at a time it is more effective).  You may not get it the first time, but just keep re-placing your right thumb until it is where you want it to be.  One you have highlighted the text push Menu and then copy (in some instances there will be an icon to copy/cut at the bottom you can push).  To paste push Menu and select paste.

This is your Tip of the Day from BerryReporter.com. Enjoy!
