BlackBerry Onyx Sports the Popular Leather Battery Door

Clearly one of the best features of the Blackberry Bold was the leather battery door on the back.  It was the first of its kind and it really added a unique style to the device.  To this day I still receive emails and questions on how to get that popular leather door on other Blackberry models.  I wish I knew how but then again this is what makes the 9000 series so unique.  We’ve heard before that the Onyx 9020 was going to be the big brother to the Bold and this all but confirms it.  Obviously this is still a prototype that may not look the same down the road but we anticipate this back leather door will be there.

The pictures come from Feedberry, who got to play with this early version 9020.  One thing you’ll notice right away if head to their site is the trackpad is missing.  Like the upcoming Gemini the Onyx will feature the same optical trackpad that we’ve seen pictures of.  With Wi-Fi, 3G and a 480×360 display the Onyx will be AT&T’s version of the Tour and it just might be better.
