Make no mistake about it, the Blackberry App World is still a work in progress. By now most of us have figured out its flaws and strengths and what they can improve on. Right now the unfortunate fact is there seems to be more negatives than positives. I think most of us are optimistic on the future of the App World and what it could mean to users and developers all over the world.
Some exciting news may be coming soon as the App World could be releasing version 1.1 in the near future. BerryReview noticed that RIM has updated their documentation from version 1.0 to version 1.1. Now this doesn’t necessarily mean an update is on the way however two new features that are not yet available are in the documentation.
The first is a new archiving option that will allow users to download applications for a second time without paying for them. You will also be able to download apps to a media card, which is a plus.
It was the other announcement that got my attention. It looks like we will finally have a full website dedicated to the App World.
Users can find applications by using the search function, selecting an application category, or browsing by Featured Items, Top Free, Top Paid, or Newest Applications. Users can visit the web site for BlackBerry App World at www.blackberry.com/appworld.
This is a huge step in the right direction as we will finally be able to reviews apps, see screenshots and find the newest apps all from the web.
