Theme Review: ClearView Tour by Blaqk Designs

As you know we have a ton of BlackBerry themes in the BerryReporter Store so picking which ones to review is not easy.  I usually try to go for themes that are not only unique but also offer all the features you want in a BlackBerry theme.  There are also times where I like to give new theme designers a chance and that is the case today with the ClearView theme by Blaqk Designs.

This new minimalistic theme is simple yet it comes with some nice features.  It is designed to show you as much wallpaper space as possible so you can really show off your background.  To do this all the customized icons and folders are clear and transparent which makes it easier to see through to the wallpaper.  Every time you hover over an icon the image inside will show and then disappear when you move on to the next.  The home screen features a 5 icon customizable dock that is also animated.  This is so your screen can stay clutter free and your background can be easily viewed.  When you hover over each icon on the home screen it will then slide up for full view.

ClearView focuses heavily on your wallpaper which means the graphics and style stay pretty simple.  As for menu placement this theme follows your basic layout.  There is a battery meter on the top left followed by the time and signal strength.  Beneath that you will find the date and message icons.  The menus follow the same color scheme throughout which is a silverish gray and is nothing fancy.

It should be obvious by now that ClearView has one goal in mind and that is showing off your background.  I just love this concept, too many themes focus on icons and features yet they just clog up your BlackBerry screen.  With Clearview you get a simple yet effective design that is made for those who like custom wallpaper.  Yes this theme comes with a nice preloaded wallpaper image but let’s be honest here ClearView is tailor made so you can show your favorite pictures and wallpaper.

Yes the graphics are pretty simple and bland but that is what this theme is designed for.  This is why you have to sacrifice some of the flash that other themes provide for a better background.  The animated dock is certainly a plus and I love the way each menu icon is hidden until you scroll over them.  ClearView is compatible with several different devices and even includes a different version which adds an extra weather slot.  The one thing I would have loved to see on this theme is a little more color on the icons.  This wouldn’t affect the background experience because you wouldn’t see the color icon till you hovered over it.
