Bluetooth headsets are becoming more and more popular everyday. With the amount of states cracking down on cell phone usage while driving, having a Bluetooth headset is becoming a necessity. Just like every other mobile device there are many Bluetooth options for BlackBerry users. RIM even makes their own Bluetooth accessories made specifically for the BlackBerry. They are high quality headsets but the problem is they are little bit pricey.
As for me I prefer to use Jabra headsets not just because they are affordable but also because they come with all the features you need in a Bluetooth speakerphone. Jabra has been making headsets since 2000 and they continue to reinvent the hands-free wireless world. They also specialize in sound quality because a Bluetooth headset is no good if you can’t hear anyone.
The Jabra BT2080 has been out since July 2009 and they claim it is their most user-friendly headset yet. Naturally I had to put this theory to test and I did just that by using all the features this Jabra model had to offer. First off when you give the title user-friendly to any kind of gadget then that means it can be used by anybody from the knowledgeable tech geek to someone who has never used a Bluetooth headset before. Which also means the headset is easy to operate, easy to pair with your phone and has easy to find notifications so you know when your battery is low or when you’re connected.
Setting up the Jabra BT2080 is a breeze and should only take you a couple minutes. Like every other Bluetooth headset you need to power up the Bluetooth connections on your BlackBerry. From there the BT2080 can be detected just make sure you have turned it on. The power button is located on the back of the headset and can be easily found although I think it could’ve been slightly bigger. Underneath that you will notice the LED lights for connection and battery power, these will display multi-colored lights that are easily noticeable. When you flip the headset over you will see the answer/end button, this is the best feature on the BT2080. I just hate when the answer/end button is either too small or doesn’t respond. This is not the case with the BT2080 as it is perfectly placed and easy to use. There is also a volume control button on the side that is well placed and is handy for in call use.
The Jabra BT2080 offers a sleek design that isn’t too bulky or flashy. It is stylish and attaches nicely to your ear. When you venture underneath you’ll find the earpiece, which is near perfect. It comes with an outer plastic shell that will keep you comfortable unlike other headsets. It’s a lightweight headset and weighs in at about 2.8 ounces. This is a key for any Bluetooth speakerphone, you don’t want something heavy hanging off your ear.
As for the most important aspect of any Bluetooth headset the performance, the Jabra BT2080 passes with flying colors. When testing out any kind of Bluetooth device I like to get feedback from both ends. When you talk about sound quality it really is the best. I had no problems hearing my callers and they all sounded clear. Of course I had to get feedback from their end and they all told me I sounded no different than if I was on my phone. The battery is also worth mentioning as it seems like it lasts forever. They claim it offers 6 hours talk time and 8 days standby and I am nearly past that.
I would highly recommend the Jabra BT2080 Bluetooth headset to anyone and as with previous Jabra models it lives up to the hype. Except for the tiny power button the BT2080 passes in every department including its claim to be user-friendly. While it may not be the easiest to use Bluetooth headset on the market it is certainly close. You can grab the Jabra BT2080 in our store for the price of $39.99 which is $10 off the original price.
