miQ vs. Skydeck: Which is the Better BlackBerry App?

miQWith my miQ account request being confirmed yesterday (along with many others), I became quite thrilled as I had been eagerly waiting its arrival ever since it was announced. With all the features it gives like: media sync, calendar sync, address book sync and call log syncing you can see why. miQ is really a great service and all the great features are just the beginning.

Media sync is a neat feature because it allows you to sync up all of your photos and videos then share these items with whomever you wish.  You can also sync them with various social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook , and Flickr . This is a great feature if you belong to any of those sites. Oh I forgot to mention that it also offers callwave visual voice mail syncing features however it’s still a brand new beta service and is not without its flaws.  Since it is still in beta form I’m not going to be going into detail over these items which I’m sure will later be addressed. On the upside the support team is quick to respond to any questions or suggestions you may have.

Now from what I know Skydeck has been around for a while, and they too offer syncing features for free but the difference between the two is media sync. Skydeck does not offer this in any way shape or form. It does offer contact and message sync including some form of visual voice mail but that pretty much is it from what I can see.  Does this mean that miQ is better than Skydeck ? I’m not sure to be quite honest with you as I am pretty new to both services. One thing I do know is that miQ’s mobile app is much better than Skydeck’s. The miQ app does not run in the background all the time like Skydeck’s taking up useful app memory and using network bandwidth.

So overall for now I am going to have to say I am more impressed with miQ. Will this change in the future?  It could but only if Skydeck can step up to the plate and provide media syncing and maybe a better mobile application. In the meantime both of these GREAT services are free so why not sign up for both and decide for yourself which app you like the best?
