If you can remember back in early October we reported that AT&T and T-Mobile were getting ready to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9700 on the 21st. Well RIM stayed true to their word as today the BlackBerry Bold 9700 has been officially announced. We already know that the Bold 9700 will come equipped with the new trackpad and sleek pleather battery door but what else does it have to offer?
For one it will have Wi-Fi capability and top of that the T-Mobile model will be the first BlackBerry to allow voice calling over Wi-Fi. The Bold 9700 will also sport a respectable 3.2 megapixel camera and a pretty high resolution screen. As expected it will come loaded with OS 5.0 and the speed/performance have been upgraded from the original Bold. No word on an official release date but we do now that we can expect the new Bold 9700 sometime in November.
From the press release:
“October 21, 2009 – Waterloo, ON – Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced the sleek and powerful BlackBerry® Bold 9700 smartphone. The new BlackBerry Bold 9700 offers an extensive array of high-end communications and multimedia features in a compact and highly refined design that will appeal to both men and women and for both professional and personal use.

Cutting edge engineering and premium finishes extend to the exterior of the handset as well, with a smoothly integrated touch-sensitive trackpad and a highly tactile, distinctive, fretted keyboard. The dark chrome frame and leatherette back add to the new smartphone’s sleek and elegant look, while the narrow profile, balanced weight and soft-touch sides allow it to feel incredibly comfortable in one hand.
