Yesterday at the BlackBerry Developer Conference Loopt announced a major update for their free BlackBerry app. Loopt is a location based service that turns your cellphone into a friend finder. The new update includes several new features that make it easier than ever to connect with friends and places.
BlackBerry users now have the ability to let Loopt run in the background and automatically update their status. This means you will always get the best results when you are looking for local restaurants, your friends or events. Loopt also includes ratings from Pulse that let you see what your friends like or dislike the most.
Other features include:
- See where your friends are on maps view their latest updates listed in real-time and comment on them
- Check-in to instantly share your updates with friends, easily update Facebook and Twitter with your photos and places in one Loopt check-in
- Browse and rate local places and events. Peruse detailed information from Zagat, Citysearch, and the Loopt community
- Save money through special offers from nearby retailers with local coupons
