Verizon’s $350 Early Termination Fee Now Active

There have been rumors going around that Verizon would increase its early termination fee for certain devices. Well yesterday that rumor became a reality and new customers will now have to shell out $350 it they cancel early. Of course this doesn’t apply to all phones just what Verizon calls “advanced devices.” As expected all BlackBerry phones are considered advanced devices so if you plan on buying a new BlackBerry Storm 2 make sure you know all the new details. If you signed up before November 14th you don’t have to worry about these new fees.
So why did Verizon Wireless choose to do this? Who knows, but it’s clear they want to take advantage of the new smartphone craze. It is expected that by 2011 smartphone sales will rise above traditional mobile phone sales and should stay that way for good.
