Review: Seidio Innocase Crystal for the BlackBerry Tour

Seidio is known for providing many different types of accessories for smartphones but their bread and butter has always been their Innocase line of premium cases. Innocases are made with a hard yet flexible material that offers almost no bulk and supplies premium protection for your phone. They come in different versions like the Innocase 360 or the Innocase Surface and Surface 2. Each version is compatible with a spring lock holster which I believe is the best way to carry your BlackBerry around.
The Innocase Crystal is something we have never seen before from Seidio but has been on my wishlist for a while now. I have always been a fan of the Innocase series but wanted a case that shows off more of the phone and that is exactly what the Innocase Crystal does. It looks just like any other Innocase except it is crafted with a hard transparent material. The case is only 1mm thick so you get almost no bulk at all. It is also scratch resistant which is a must have for any type of clear case. Almost everything about the Innocase Crystal is what you want for your BlackBerry but how does it hold up after weeks of wear and tear?
As I stated before one of the best things about the Innocase series is that most of them are compatible with a holster. There is no better way to protect you’re device and your phone than carrying it in a holster. In my opinion every premium case from any company should be compatible with some kind of holster, storing it in your pocket is just not a good idea. As luck would have it I already had an Innocase Holster which fits perfectly with the Chrystal case. It can be snapped in and out of the case with almost no effort and to me it seemed like it fit the holster better than any other Innocase out there.
It’s hard not to like the design of the Innocase Crystal especially if you want to show off your BlackBerry. I have always liked the way the Tour looked and when you pair it with the Crystal case it looks even better. As many Tour owners already know the device has a slightly loose battery cover which can be easily solved by putting it in a Chrystal case. The material is much different than any other Innocase, it is a hard plastic like material that may not look like much but you’ll be surprised at how well it protects your device. If you want more protection you can also grab the Innocase Crystal Hybrid which is clear on the front but on the back has the traditional Innocase material. As for me I did just fine with the Crystal case and felt that my Tour was well protected.
Even though the Innocase Chrystal’s material is supposed to be scratch resistant I did notice some small scratches after a couple of weeks of use. This could be because I am usually rough on my phones but let’s be honest, if you want a clear case you’re just going to have to deal with those minor dings. It wasn’t anything that was really noticeable but when I review a case I inspect every angle of it. My only other problem with the Chrystal was taking it off. This goes for any Innocase as it does take some force to get them off your phone. It would be nice if Seidio somehow found a way to make this easier in future Innocases’.
Overall I was very satisfied with the Innocase Chrystal. It is something I wanted to see Seidio do for a long time now and as soon as it was released I had to grab it. There are some minor drawbacks but really they relate to any kind of clear case out there. I finally can show off my BlackBerry Tour and at the same time know it is well protected.
