In 2009 RIM released some amazing new phones but it’s an old favorite that continues to be the most popular. The Nielsen Company has unveiled their Top Mobile Phones of 2009 and the Curve 8300 series came in second just behind the iPhone. It was a close race, in fact the Curve 8300 series was only .3% away from taking the top spot.
When we talk about the BlackBerry Curve 8300 series we of course are talking about five different models (8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, 8350i). When you break down the series even more the most popular out the group is the Curve 8330 however the 8350i with Nextel support is also in demand. This is not too surprising because the Curve 8330 has been in the spotlight since its release in 2008.
According the data compiled by Nielson the BlackBerry Storm 9530 finished 7th and the Pearl 8100 series finished 10th. These are all low priced, consumer friendly BlackBerry phones expect for Storm 9530. You can expect things to change next year. Now that we have a new Curve series (8500) and the new trackpad it’s only a matter of time before the 8300 series becomes extinct. Still though it has been quite a run and this is the series that has changed the way people look at BlackBerry phones.
