Patiently Waiting for the BlackBerry Tour2 9650

There is a lot of hype surrounding the upcoming BlackBerry Tour2 9650.  Last week BGR published a hands-on article featuring the new Tour (AKA Essex) and it created a ton of buzz.  It seems like so long ago when we first heard rumors of its existence and yet here we are at the end of December with no Tour2 in sight.

As is the case with any upcoming BlackBerry device, rumors of its release date are all over the map.  Some say the Tour2 could be released sometime in January while others believe we won’t see it until May of 2010.  At this point it’s hard to get a grasp on just when this next generation Tour will be released but the question is what’s the hold up?

Initially we were thinking that RIM would release the 9650 sometime in the fall because of the issues the original Tour had.  As time went on it was obvious this wasn’t the case and here we are today left guessing.  No one really knows why these devices get delayed so the only thing we can do is speculate.  One theory is that the Bold 9700 was so successful that RIM decided to wait until next year to release the Tour2.  We already know that in 2010 we will see the Pearl 9100 and the Storm3.  These two devices will be a huge hit in the BlackBerry community so adding the Tour2 to that lineup should make it another successful year from RIM.
