Today RIM released two new applications from its IBM Lotus Software lineup. IBM Lotus Quickr and Lotus Connections are designed to offer secure collaboration and social networking tools for business users.
Quickr is a brand new application that focuses on fast and secure content sharing. Users of the application will be able to access IBM Lotus Quickr libraries and folders. From there they can easily upload or edit files and even download content. Quickr also works with Documents To Go so you can edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.
IBM Lotus Connections is a social networking tool for business users. The app is not new but it has received a major overhaul for the BlackBerry. Users now have the ability to work with Lotus Connections profiles, bookmarks and blogs. It also works with BlackBerry email, browser, tasks and the camera for a more in-depth social experience. RIM has also reported they have updated their BlackBerry Social Networking proxy server so they could offer better performance and minimize data usage. Both of these products are now available for the enterprise system.
