Here is a little sneak peak at OS 6.0 or as RIM is calling it BlackBerry 6. Enjoy!
A few things to take away from this short little video. I really do like what I am seeing here about OS 6.0 or BlackBerry 6. The user interface has really been improved to something everyone will love the pull up menus. It gives it more of feel to the OS. RIM has also updated its messages, media player, and contacts applications that are built in have been updated big time. Also inside the new OS is a much improved Web browser, which is something that users have been begging for. Even I have been begging for RIM to include tab browsing in the Web browser so you can have multiple web pages opened up.
This new OS looks like it is going to be a great improvement on touchscreen devices. You will be able to do more such as multitouch. Don’t worry this doesn’t mean it is going to be bad on a keyboard device. I think this OS is going to look amazing on all types of devices. However that leaves us with just one question that hasn’t been answered yet, and that is what current devices will be able to run BlackBerry OS 6.0? It’s probably safe to say that users of such devices as the 83xx series and lower are probably not going to be able to get 6.0 on these devices. This will be a nice way to get users of old devices to upgrade so that they can get this new OS with all these features. Its not safe to say what other current day devices will be able to get this. I am pretty certain that the new BlackBerry Bold 9650 is going to able to get this, but what about the Storms, the Curve 8530′s, and the Bolds? Hopefully we can get more answers during these last two days here at WES 2010.
Now the last thing that I want to try and answer is whether this will actually save RIM. Recently a writer from Yahoo Business stated that he believed that RIM was sinking and sinking fast. He blamed the software and web browser not being up to date with the other mobile devices out there. I was talking with a mobile industry analyst yesterday, and I asked him what he thought the new OS meant for RIM. His reply was that the best way to see how an announcement is going to effect a company is to look at the stock market, and a few hours after Mike Lazaridis made the big announcement, RIM’s stock prices went very high up. I do believe that this will help RIM continue to be a big player in the smartphone world. Only time will tell though.

ugh! why do they believe that garbage is helpful — why not just tell us what 6 will do better than 5?
Wholly agree- I took a look at it (not even the whole way through) and I was wondering… so why should I be looking forward to OS 6 again?
