BlackBerry Messenger Message “From RIM” is Fake. Don’t Worry!

If you guys have a lot of BBM contacts then I am sure one of them has broadcasted this message to you just like the one in crackberry Adam’s BBM message. The message states this

Hello, greetings from RIM (Research In Motion) proprietors of BlackBerry. This message is to inform all of our users, that our servers have recently been really full, so we are asking for your help to fix this problem. We need our active users to re-send this message to everyone on your contact list inorder to confirm our active users that use BlackBerry Messenger, if you do not send this message to all your BlackBerry Messenger contacts then your account will remain inactive with the consequence of losing all your contacts.

We apologize for the inconvenience but this is the only way possible to resolve this problem. Sincerely Research in Motion. For more information visit www.blackberry.com/inactiveusers’

Now there are a few things in this message that points to it being fake. The first thing is the web link. If you click on it, it goes no where. The second thing is the line that says, “This message is to inform all of our users, that our servers have recently been really full” RIM or any other company would never say really full it just doesn’t sound professional. The third thing that CrackBerry Kevin pointed out is that RIM would never write Research in Motion. ¬†Even BlackBerry’s Facebook page says this is false.
