BlackBerry Productivity Tab, Power Center, Device Search, and Notable are Heading to End of Life Status in June

BlackBerry today updated their software End of Life page and a couple apps are shockingly on there. BlackBerry Productivity Tab, Power Center, Notable and Device search now have a end of life date of June 30th 2019.

END OF LIFE

  • The product will no longer be supported by BlackBerry

  • There will be no new versions of software

  • No software patches, security fixes or workarounds will be generated to resolve any product issues

  • BlackBerry Technical Support will no longer accept or troubleshoot issues directly related to the OS or application

Now as you can see from BlackBerry’s definition of End of life, neither of these apps will be supported by BlackBerry orĀ  receiving any new updates to them. The apps of course will still work and be usable on your Android device.

While I am not shocked that BlackBerry Device search is on this list, I am very shocked to see the BlackBerry Productivity tab and Power Center on this list. I personally use the BlackBerry Power Center constantly and really love the insight it gives me into my device usage. BlackBerry Mobile even uses the BlackBerry Power Center as a feature to market the BlackBerry KEY2. The BlackBerry Productivity tab is an app that BlackBerry pushed very heavily in the beginning and is loved by many. Most likely the cause of these apps reaching end of life is that users weren’t really using them. There is also a possibility that they could be re-branding these apps or developing different versions of them, but that is probably unlikely.

Let us know what you think of BlackBerry bringing these apps to End of Life in the comments below.
