New BBM Android Beta Update Available, Officially Brings BBM Desktop Back and Increases Group Capacity to 300 Members!

A few months ago, a BBM Beta update introduced BBM Desktop to Beta users.  BBM Desktop allows users to access their BBM Chats right from their web browser.  One of the interesting things about BBM Desktop is that it wasn’t ever officially mentioned in any of the BBM Beta Change logs.  Another interesting thing is that BBM Desktop has been appearing and disappearing with each update. Usually it would appear during a beta update and disappear when a official version of BBM was released.

Well, a new BBM Beta update is now being rolled out to BBM Beta users, and guess what?  BBM Desktop is back! BBM Desktop can now be accessed again right in the ‘Me’ Tab.  It is also included in the Change log, which is a good sign that BBM Desktop is here to stay.  If you go to the ‘Me’ tab BBM Desktop now has (Beta) next to it so that means there are some kinks being worked out.   So far, BBM Desktop looks to be working better but I will let you know if I see any issues as it is still early.

Another new change in the BBM Beta update is an increase to BBM Group Member support.  BBM Groups now supports up to 300 members! This is really great to see BBM starting to try and compete with other Messaging platforms that have very high member support.  In the BBM Beta update, BBMoji can now also be accessed via the ‘Me’ tab, giving users a quicker way to access it.  For all of you sticker lovers out there, you can now show off samples of your newly downloaded stickers right on your Feed and Timeline! The new BBM Beta update also allows user to share any type of document much faster in 1:1 and Group chat.  It is a much better experience from what I have seen.  Check out the full change log below for all the cool new features in the BBM Beta update.

What’s New

  • BBM Desktop: Extend your chat to desktop
  • The more the merrier! Group chat now supports up to 300 members!
  • BBMoji is now accessible from the ‘Me’ tab
  • On call screen notifies when callee is busy via message and tone
  • Show off samples of your newly downloaded sticker on Feeds & Timeline

Now if you aren’t seeing this update, that means you aren’t a beta tester for BBM.  Don’t worry they update will be eventually rolled out to everyone! If you are in the beta program, let us know if you see any new features besides what is listed! Enjoy!
