WhatsApp Services Extended till End of 2017, WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10 Updated

If you are a WhatsApp user on BlackBerry OS or BlackBerry 10 you will be glad to know that you now have even more time to use WhatsApp on your platform of choice! In a interview with Whatsappen, WhatsApp Co-Founder Brian Acton confirmed that WhatsApp Service will now last until the end of 2017. This includes both BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 versions.  Now for BlackBerry OS, you do need to be running BlackBerry OS 7 for the service to continue.

Last year WhatsApp announced that it would cut off all BlackBerry and Nokia operating systems by June 30, 2017. “We are going to extend BlackBerry through the end of 2017”, Brian Acton said. Also Nokia S40 will be extended longer.

To support this announcement, the WhatsApp app for BlackBerry 10 has been updated in BlackBerry World. The App update brings the verbiage that Service is being extended till the end of 2017.

This is all great news for WhatsApp users on BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS.  You now have longer time to find an alternative to WhatsApp on BlackBerry 10/ BlackBerry OS, or update your device to a shiny new Phone!
